Scripture
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word, I put my hope. (6) I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.” Psalm 130:5-6 (NIV)

Patience is a virtue for a reason. We spend our lives in service of God, waiting for the moment we finally meet Him. We make sacrifices, resist temptation and strive toward becoming the best versions of ourselves. So, where is He? Seriously, because doesn’t it feel like sometimes the struggle to wait on God to jump in and save the day is real, friends?

Waiting is always the hardest part of life. We wait for God to guide us through the dark times in our lives. We wait for God to show us the answers to the questions we’ve been asking. We wait for God to call us home. It’s not that He isn’t listening to us and there is never a delay in His plans. To God, it’s all in the timing, and He knows exactly when the time is right.

Lent provides an excellent opportunity for us to practice patience. We make sacrifices without knowing the outcome or expecting anything in return and put our trust in God to provide us with what we need when we need it (as opposed to what we want when we want it).

Our relationship with God shouldn’t be a game of hurry up and wait. We cannot cut corners to reach true holiness just to meet God quicker. If we are humble and patient, we will sow trust in God’s schedule. The guidance we need arrives when we are meant to receive it. Not a moment late and always right on time. What a mighty God we serve!
