Not all of our plans work out as we envision them happening—whether it’s a hobby that becomes a drag or a relationship that’s lost its luster, we can’t control the time we previously invested. When we decide to cut our losses and move on from something no longer serving us, it is natural to feel like we have wasted our time.
For each day, month or year we spend pursuing something not meant to be, God will give us back the time we have lost by replacing it with time spent fulfilling our true purpose. Unknowingly chasing something we are not meant for is not a bad thing. It ultimately brings us closer to what is meant for us and leaves us with no ambiguity. God gave us free will to choose how we spend our time and where we find meaningful purpose in our lives. We should not fear time wasted; time finding greater meaning is always time well spent when we first seek God’s input, then put in the energy and work to make it happen.
