Scripture
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19 (NIV)

What do you do when your earth quakes? Where do you turn when safety crumbles? Who is there to help you pick up the pieces when you tremble?

Significant life events can leave us in pieces. A doctor delivers a devastating diagnosis. Your husband walks out on you. Your last severance check arrives. Maybe it’s not just one ground-shaking event, but tiny tremors mounting and chipping away at you until there’s nothing left but fear and panic. When anxiety creeps in, it doesn’t mean we have lost faith. It takes a lot of courage to admit when we are rocked to our core as the riptides rush in, pulling us out to sea. It’s also an act of bravery to reach out to the ultimate Lifesaver—Jesus.

You can trust Him to take every pain and sorrow away because Jesus took those with Him when He paid the ultimate price for our salvation. You can believe in the Rescuer who will release you from circumstances within your control and beyond them. You can trust the One True God whose wisdom never varies and whose love never fails.

When the thoughts in your head cause your heart to flutter, fear to overwhelm and anxiety to peak, remember you are safe in the arms of the Savior. You can rely on Him to carry your burdens because He is the one who carried them to the cross so you wouldn’t have to.
