Think of it this way: You want to run a marathon. So, you hire a trainer. Someone qualified, experienced and knowledgeable. You put money down as a commitment to train with them, buy the sneakers and show up for Day One. But the first drill they ask you to run, you turn back and say, “No, thanks. That sounds too challenging,” and walk away.
Silly, right? You made a commitment. You gave something up to reach the finish line. Then you turn to the one best suited to train you and tell them you don’t want their help? Did you not expect some big challenges along the path toward this huge goal?
God is running you through drills right now. He is training you for the marathon that is the race to heaven. He keeps pushing you farther and farther, seeing if you’ll make it, seeing if you’ll help build His kingdom, seeing if you’ll still trust Him to get you to the finish line. So, when challenges come and the training feels tough, do you look back at the One most qualified to help you and tell Him, “No thanks?” Or do you push forward, joyful for the opportunity to build endurance, build a relationship with God and pursue the kingdom of heaven?
After all, you put a down payment on this journey: your soul. You gave up something to reach the finish line: your life. You’ve made so many sacrifices just to know the One who is qualified, experienced and knowledgeable on how to make it through this world and to the other side. So, will you accept the troubles you may face during His training for that joyful day you cross the finish line?
