If carrying a tune isn’t your talent, you may shudder thinking about doing it before God. But, did you know that’s okay?
Everyone sounds fantastic in the shower. We raise the roof when the volume on our car stereo is cranked up. Yet the thought of hitting the high notes before God: before everyone? No, thank you.
Here’s the thing, friend. It’s about the joy of the moment for God, not us. The glorious mixture of our voice and praise becomes one, directing all that energy toward God. Honoring Him should not be held back because we don’t think it’s a worthy offering. Let that sound emanate from your heart and soul with unabashed exuberance.
And if you’re still unsure about your octave range, this is for you: God doesn’t call us all to sing pitch perfect, but rather to make a joyful noise. My dad loved whistling in church. You would never catch him on a Sunday morning belting out “Amazing Grace.” But his whistle was breathtaking, beautiful and oh, how he praised the Rock of his salvation.
Thanksgiving brings us into the presence of our Heavenly Father. The joy we feel because of the love of Jesus should make us want to sing out. When we walk in faith, we are assured death will have no sting. Let Him hear your heart and sing—or whistle—His praises now and forever.
