Here’s what’s happening in the book of Revelation:
In the final book of the Bible, we find what the future holds. Sin is no more. Death has been defeated. Evil is over. Jesus, the Lamb of God, sits with the Father in Heaven forever. Oh, glorious day, amen?
Our crying hearts and weary souls leave us longing for this to come to pass. We want to be with God, and God wants to be with us for eternity. We witness Him throughout the Bible in relationship with people. In Genesis, God spent time in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Tabernacles and temples were built so He could spend time there too. Then, He sent His Son in the flesh to walk among us to make a permanent path to be with all of us for eternity. Father and Son are waiting for this New Jerusalem to spend time with us for the rest of our days.
This verse hits the crescendo of John’s vision of the future. He states that not just a handful but every creature from beneath the earth and into the stratosphere, in unison, praises the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. From sea creatures to the stars dotting the Milky Way, the majesty of the moment will overcome them—overcome us all.
Today, experience the joy that salvation brings. Do everything in God’s name with gratitude, knowing His saving grace will lead us home to worship and praise Him. Death will have no sting. All that remains will be life everlasting. The whole earth will sing of His glory forever.
