Scripture
God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.” Genesis 1:5 (NIV)

To all those asking if the darkness inside you will stop you from being a child of God, look no further than the fifth verse in the Bible. As the Father creates, he names both the light, and the darkness. Both are significant enough for him to name. But what pulls it all together, is that as evening shifts to the morning, the first day has been created. Both darkness and light are used to create a single day.

Sister, any darkness, or sin in you, will never pull you away from God. Just as He created the days with light and darkness, so He knows that there is darkness in you. With God’s grace, it will never overcome you.

Struggling with sin is more common than most like to admit. If you feel a specific struggle, reach out to a church leader or close friend to help you work through it. But most importantly remember that you are a child of God, even when the darkness in you feels too strong to bear. The Father sent his Son to bring victory over that darkness, so you need not worry about the final outcome.
