Scripture
5The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.'” Matthew 28:5-7 (NIV)

Jesus told His disciples to go to Galilee after His death. He didn’t run. He prayed and faced what He knew God was calling Him to do. He was willingly arrested and carried His cross to Golgotha. He endured hours of being beaten and whipped and had nails driven through His hands and feet. He was adorned with a crown of thorns and left to die. Three days in the tomb, then an angel rolled the stone away. Jesus had risen from the grave and defeated death. He appeared to His disciples in Galilee just like He said He would. That’s where He gave them the Great Commission—to make disciples of all the nations. He then promised to be with them forever through the Holy Spirit.

The sacrifices Jesus made for us so that we would not perish forever but spend eternity with Him are unimaginable. Take a few moments to thank Him for making the ultimate sacrifice.
