Have you ever waited so long for something that you felt overwhelmed with grief, anxiety or even pain wondering if the time was near?
Hannah knew exactly how that felt. The scriptures go on to say she prayed silently, fervently, with so much passion that the priest thought she was drowning her sorrows in wine. Hannah cried out to God for her heart’s desire—a baby. When finished praying, she left her request at God’s feet. She didn’t reclaim her worries. She didn’t borrow trouble and ring her hands with fear of being forgotten. Still waiting on an answer from God, Hannah trusted He would answer in His own way and His own time.
How often have we made our pleas to the Lord, asked for His will to be done, then snatched back those fears as if we could handle them better than God? Employment worries, financial concerns, family stressors—real issues that cause pain and distress for so many.
Believe in God, surrender your cares to Him and let them go. Easier said than done, but you will not be forgotten.
