Elihu may have said a lot during Job’s story, but in this moment, he gets something beautifully right. He reminds us that we’re not just random bodies walking through the motions. We are breathed to life by God Himself.
Think about that. The breath in your lungs right now—that’s a gift from the Almighty. It’s not just about how you were made, but how you’re being sustained right now. You’re not here by accident. Every moment you live is proof of God’s Spirit moving in and through you.
So what do we do with that?
We start by noticing. That first deep breath before your feet hit the floor in the morning—take it in as a reminder: God is with me today. Maybe it’s pausing for a few seconds before responding to your child or coworker and asking, Holy Spirit, help me breathe grace here. It could be as simple as walking outside, letting the sun warm your face and whispering, Thank You for life today.
You don’t have to manufacture purpose. It’s already in you—because He is.
Whether you’re writing emails, folding laundry, running errands or making dinner, you have His breath in your body and His Spirit in your soul. And that means even the most ordinary parts of your day can carry extraordinary meaning.
Let today be a gentle return to awareness: You are alive with the breath of the Almighty. You are loved, sustained and deeply empowered by His Spirit.
So breathe deeply. Live intentionally. And let His breath guide your every step.
