Sometimes you wake up and something just feels off. Like, you’re doing everything right—praying, seeking God, trying to be faithful—but life still throws a curveball that doesn’t make sense.
Job’s friend Zophar asked him a deep question: Can you really understand the mysteries of God? Basically, he was saying, Some things are just beyond us. And isn’t that the truth? We crave answers. We want to know why things happen, how God is working and when we’ll see things turn around. But sometimes, God’s ways are simply bigger than our minds can grasp. And as frustrating as that can be, there’s also an unexpected peace in it—knowing we don’t have to figure it all out, because He already has.
I bet you’ve had a time in your life when things just didn’t add up—when you prayed, waited, did everything “right,” but the outcome still wasn’t what you hoped for. Maybe you’ve been training for a big race, following the perfect plan and suddenly you tweak your knee a week before the event. Or maybe a friendship that meant the world to you slowly faded away. It didn’t make sense at the time, and honestly, it hurt.
But then—months or even years later—you saw things differently. You realized that skipping that race protected you from a more serious injury. Maybe losing that friendship made space for people who truly uplifted you. It’s in these moments that you can look back and think, Oh … now I see it—God was writing a story I couldn’t have imagined.
So if you’re in a season of waiting or confusion right now, take heart. You don’t have to understand everything in the moment. Just know that God sees the full picture—even when all you can see is the puzzle piece in front of you.
