We are often our own worst enemies. We self-sabotage by making the wrong choices time and time again. How many lessons will it take for us to realize God’s unconditional love and redemption are free for the taking?
Hosea was commanded by God to marry a sinful woman. He chose for himself a prostitute named Gomer. He was dedicated to making their marriage work even when Gomer committed adultery. She had a good thing going with this Godly man, but she continued to destroy herself and her marriage, throwing away an opportunity to follow God.
Maybe she felt unworthy. Perhaps her self-destructive habits were so ingrained, Gomer couldn’t accept a loving man like Hosea. No matter the reasons, she worked to destroy it all by giving in to past mistakes. Hosea was called to love her, no matter what, though. He was commanded to forgive and restore their marriage. A calling hard to heed for anyone in his shoes.
God loves you—no matter where you stand with Him today. If you feel you’re the farthest thing from being worthy of His love or the love of anyone in your life, be assured you’re never so lost that God’s love cannot find you.
We are all unworthy, yet God loves us anyway.
