Scripture
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

Independence is an important trait. Who else will pay the mortgage and get that report turned in by quitting time, right? Here’s the thing: there’s a difference between being self-sufficient, standing on your own and allowing God to lead the way in all things.

When you place your entire trust in God—and not solely in yourself—that’s an act of love, worship and faith. It’s so much easier said than done, isn’t it? It’s hard to place your future in the hands of someone else. Yet we’re talking about God. His roadmap is always up-to-date. His advice is bestseller-list-type content. He never fails, is the perfect guide and wants to lead us toward the desires of our hearts.

As believers, we are called to commit all that we are, all we have and all that we will ever be to the Lord. Carrying the load alone is a heavy burden to bear. Forging ahead through our own power is a recipe for burnout. When we say, “Lord, Thy will be done,” and mean it, His plans have room to come to life. You were never meant to carry the weight of the world on your own. If you feel confused, overwhelmed and full of doubt, maybe it’s time to settle into the comfort of God’s strength.
