This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, this little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Now that you’re humming along and reminiscing on the nursery school days, it’s important to remember that the light you once shone has not gone out. Underneath the stress of your life, the burden of your past and the wall built up from heartbreak, there’s a little light still burning inside.
When we accept Christ into our hearts, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in us. As the light of the world, He sparks a flame in our hearts. But as time goes on and the devil does his thing, it can feel as though that light has been stomped out. Thoughts about your past, the distance in your relationship with God, the pain from your experiences in the Church. It can feel like you’re being forced to put your little light under a bucket.
But no! No amount of darkness can shroud over the light of our Lord. It burns within us. It shines when we extend a helping hand, lend a kind word or cry out to Him for healing. The world can be a dark place. We can feel pain and betrayal, even at the hands of those who also have a little light burning inside of them. But no matter how many times the light is nearly extinguished, it never goes out. So, let it shine, that little light of yours.
