Scripture
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14 (NIV)

When good things happen, we’re dying to discuss them with anyone and everyone. Sometimes we don’t even have to open our mouths to share our pride. Instead, we let our bumper stickers do the talking about our scholarly student. End-zone dances are pretty easy to read as celebratory. And then there’s the one person you know who always loves to spill the tea about their latest vacation, car, business acquisition or circle of influence. It’s not that you’re jealous of their good fortune; you just would rather not hear about it all the time. Wouldn’t it be great if instead of focusing that energy on inward self-praises, it was focused outwardly towards God?

Thankfully, we love a God who understands we’re human. Being proud of someone or something isn’t a sin. Being prideful is. The more often we practice being less self-centered and more God-centered, we show the world where our priorities lie and why He is absolutely praiseworthy.

There’s good news to share, friends. We worship a God who loves us in spite of our imperfections. That’s definitely something to boast about!
