Close your eyes and imagine a mountain.
It’s peaks and valleys, gray and brown striations, with bits of forest here and snow caps there.
How old might it be? Not only the mountain itself but also the trees and wildlife that inhabit it.
Spend a moment taking that in and rejoin us when you’re ready.
The funny thing about mountains is that our minds tend to see them as constants, yet they aren’t. Mountains gain their edges and grooves when winds and streams carve into them. Peaks and valleys are sculpted through the centuries. We make mountains destinations to explore, inhabit and drive wildlife away. Even for a mountain, change is inevitable. The only thing that doesn’t change is God.
God is unchangeable. You can rely on Him to remain His true self now and forever. He is the source of strength in storms and the sunshine on overcast days. David believed in the ever-present, trustworthy nature of God. He penned the book of Psalms to proclaim the name of God as a source of comfort that never fails for all eternity.
God will not fade away over time. His resourcefulness has no limit. His trustworthiness will not falter. God remains unaltered: always has, always will.
