Scripture
“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:2-3 (NIV)

Treasures. Thoughts drift toward the first set of concert tickets. A picture frame glued to the nines with multicolored buttons from Mother’s Day. A set of pearls that once belonged to a grandmother.

We value the gifts we’re given. They’re precious and meaningful. We keep them close and try to have a sense of their whereabouts. Presents are extensions of the love someone feels for us in real form. Yet the truth is precious things won’t last forever and neither will we. There’s a gift far greater that supersedes the temporal ones offered to us. All we have to do is step out in faith and believe we are treasured by God.

We may misplace or lose meaningful gifts. God never does. He always knows exactly where we are at all times. Battles and victories. Highs and lows. Tears and smiles. He knows. The Bible tells us that once we put our faith in our Heavenly Father we are never lost, never forgotten, never forsaken. He knows each and every one of us by name. God loves you. Rest easy knowing that you are precious in His sight—you’re treasured now and always.
