Scripture
“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: (3) ’Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. (4) You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.’ (5) So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. (6) The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:2-6 (NIV)

The Lord desperately wants to spend time with you. Time with no distractions or stressors. A place where it’s just the two of you.

In this story, Elijah was running from a coming famine. God instructed him to hide away for over a year. Imagine that! Being alone for over a year, your only visitors being the birds who bring you food. But while no one was there with Elijah, God was.

When you are fearful, in pain or unsure of what’s next, you can always run to the secret place that exists just between you and God, where you speak to him and he answers you. You can connect with God while cleaning, painting, driving or even in the quiet moments throughout your day. It doesn’t matter how you connect. All that matters is that you take time to dwell in that secret place and listen.
