Scripture
“The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” Exodus 15:2 (NIV)

These words left Moses’ mouth as soon as God had split the Red Sea and the Israelites were safely on the other side. It was a spontaneous song to the Lord in an overwhelming moment of awe and praise.

Another fun fact about Moses’ story is how much his wife, Zipporah, encouraged him and supported him even when he was doubting himself by following through on acts of faith. Single or married, this fact can apply to you too–encourage your husband! He needs your support in moments of doubt and uncertainty. Pray together daily to strengthen your relationship as a union before God. (You can pray daily for your future spouse or for a sister in Christ that helps keep you accountable.)

It’s easy to praise God in moments of victory, but it took incredible faith for Moses to lead the people into the sea in the first place. Do you call out to the Lord before His rescue or after it? Do you call out to Him only in crisis or even on the days when everything is going as it should? God is more apt to answer your prayers in crisis when He hears from you during the good times, too.
