Scripture
“The groans of the dying rise from the city, and the souls of the wounded cry out for help. But God charges no one with wrongdoing.” Job 24:12 (NIV)

You’ve felt it before—that ache in your chest when the world feels too heavy. When suffering is everywhere and silence feels louder than hope. That’s where Job is in this verse. He’s not sugarcoating anything. He’s naming the pain, the injustice, the cries that go unheard.

And if you’ve ever asked, God, where are You in all of this?—you’re in good company.

But what if His silence isn’t absence? What if it’s an invitation? A whisper that says, You see it—now go be My presence there.

Think about it—maybe you’ve seen that mom at school pick-up who always looks like she’s barely holding it together. Or the elderly man in your church who sits alone week after week. Or maybe it’s closer to home—a friend walking through divorce, a teen in your life who’s quietly drowning or someone at work who keeps showing up with red eyes and fake smiles.

Sometimes we wait for God to step in, forgetting that we are His hands and feet. That He works through us—in quiet conversations, in unexpected generosity, in the way we stop and actually see the people the world overlooks.

So today, listen closely. Whose cries are rising around you? Who’s sitting in the dark, wondering if anyone notices?

You don’t need to fix everything. But you can show up. You can drop off a meal. You can send that “Hey, you okay?” text. You can sit next to someone and say nothing at all—just be there.

And in doing that, you turn the silence into something sacred. You turn questions into action. And you remind the world that God is never truly absent—because He’s alive in you.
