Scripture
1Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble. 2They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.” Job 14:1-2 (NIV)

Life moves fast, doesn’t it? One minute, we’re making plans, chasing dreams, laughing over coffee with friends—and the next, we’re hit with the reality that everything here is temporary. You answer that dreaded phone call telling you about a terrible diagnosis or read an email that your grant funding is being pulled. If anyone understands what it’s like to have the rug pulled out from under them, it would be Job. He wrestled with the brevity of life, comparing us to flowers that bloom beautifully for a moment before they fade. It’s a humbling thought.

But Job’s story doesn’t stop at despair. His struggles, his pain, even his deepest questions—they all led him into conversation with God. And that’s where we find our encouragement today.

Sister, when life feels fragile—when hardships come and joy feels out of reach—where do you turn? Are you letting the struggles draw you closer to God? Are you reminding yourself that beyond this fleeting life, there’s something far greater waiting?

Our hope isn’t in how long we bloom, how much we accomplish or even how easy or hard life feels. Our hope is in the eternal God who sees us, loves us and promises something beyond anything we can imagine. So when life feels uncertain, hold onto what is certain: His love, His presence and the hope that never fades.
