Scripture
“That is why we labor and strive, because we have put out hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10 (NIV)

For many, Christmas time is filled with wonder. Carolers croon of good tidings and great joy. Relatives stretch even the smallest dining table to make room for just one more. Wide-eyed little ones overflow with the hope that their gifts meet wish list expectations. Those are the tangibles and traditions December always seems to bring.

Yet, for some, the true meaning of the season can be hard to grasp. Believing that God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to make a way for us can be challenging to comprehend. How could one tiny baby, born long ago, make a difference in a world that feels ripe with heartache and disappointment?

Miracles aren’t hard for God. In fact, He’s in a lane all His own when it comes to moments of awestruck wonder. His handiwork is seen on starry nights, in a newborn’s yawn and when grace like rain falls during the moments we least deserve it. The gift that arrived on that holiest of nights is alive and well: one that keeps giving and knows no bounds. Jesus came as the Prince of Peace to be a light in the darkness: one baby who changed everything.

Eventually, we all outgrow or move on from the presents we’ll open this holiday season. However, there is one precious gift you’ll never outgrow: Jesus.
