Scripture
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16 (NIV)

What does your girls’ night look like? A glass of wine, a good rom-com and a green tea face mask? However you kick it with your besties, there are probably some heart-to-heart moments. Someone’s tough relationship with their mom that feels unfixable. Someone’s spouse that needs healing. Someone’s misstep that feels unforgivable. It’s only normal to share our pain and our pitfalls with our closest girlfriends, but how do we help one another through these tough times?

In his letter to the early Christian church, James offers insight into how to conduct our friendships. Confess to each other when you’ve sinned against God. Pray for healing in each other’s lives. In a friendship founded under Christ, your prayers for one another are powerful and effective. Your girls’ nights can become life-changing opportunities to approach the throne of grace.

Still have a glass of wine. Still enjoy the latest rom-com. Still treat yourselves to an at-home spa. But also look for those heart-to-heart moments. Ask your friends how their relationship with Christ is going. Ask how you can pray for them and their loved ones.

A good friend listens. A Godly friend intercedes in prayer.
