Pumpkin Party
Invite some friends and family over to carve pumpkins! This can be a great thing to do early in the season when it’s still comfortable outside. Gather up some pumpkins and set up a table outside. If the kids are a little too young for the knives, you can have them draw a face or design on the pumpkin for someone else to cut, or simply have them paint the pumpkin instead! You can turn this into a fun way to build a sense of teamwork.
Pro Tip!
Spray your carved pumpkins with a 1:10 bleach/water solution to help them last longer!
Fall Foliage Hike
Take advantage of the beautiful colors of autumn by going on a fall foliage hike. There are small parks all over with little to no fees. Look up what’s in your area, and take a trip! Enjoy the crisp air, vibrant foliage and the sound of leaves crunching beneath your feet. You can turn it into an all-day event by bringing a picnic with you. There’s nothing quite like taking a breather from the business of life out in Mother Nature.
Happy Harvest Feast
If nothing else, food is something we can all agree on! While Thanksgiving may not be far away, you can invite friends over for a feast earlier in the season. You can include dishes and ingredients that resonate with the fall aesthetic: squash, apples and cranberries. Go all out with the fall theme with oranges, browns and rustic elements in your decorations. You can always light a few fall-scented candles to create a homey feeling.
Outdoor Movie Madness
Bring out that old projector or tv! Set up an outdoor movie theater with your family. Fall is the perfect time to have an outdoor movie night because the beautiful cool weather makes snuggling up in a blanket so comfortable and cozy. You can break out some simple apple cider, caramel popcorn or even have a campfire!
Fall may not seem like a wildly eventful season, but that leaves it open for you to do what you want! Take advantage of this time to plan events and parties that you can enjoy with your friends and family.
