Scripture
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, (2) to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, (3) and provide for those who grieve on Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair...” Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV)

What a blessing to be anointed by God with such a powerful calling in our lives. We have been sent to earth with a purpose greater than we could ever imagine for ourselves. It’s time to start walking in it with confidence and urgency.

God empowers us with love and mercy to be builders of His kingdom. We know this. But do you look at it as a calling to heal others? Do you walk through your life every day bestowing others with crowns of beauty, oils of joy and garments of praise? Sure, we pray for others when we see they are struggling, but do you turn your prayer into action and actively serve the hurting?

It’s a powerful calling but not an easy one. There’s a lot of ashes around us that take the form of people. That gossiping coworker, the discouraging spouse, the disobedient child. But we have power through Christ to bless them with a new life. Through prayer and service, we can work to transform their spirit of despair and pain into one of praise and joy.

The authority to heal and speak life into others comes from God, but as a warrior of the Most High, you have been blessed with the opportunity to wield this power. Use it wisely and use it often.
