“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

The Bible accounts for at least six different instances where Jesus withdrew so he could pray alone with the Father. When was the last time you withdrew from the hustle and bustle of work, kids, chores and technology to sit in silence with the Lord and wait to hear from Him?

As women, we are inherently thinking about 50 things at once. When to buy more toilet paper, get that chicken out of the freezer for dinner, our church potluck contribution–there are always multiple things rattling around up there.

Oftentimes, meditation has connotations with yoga and the emptying of your mind of everything. But meditation with the Lord is emptying your mind of worldly things then letting God fill it back up. Overwhelming peace and comfort can come from prayerful meditation. Give it a try. Listen for the Lord. If you ask, He will speak to you. Just make sure you are listening.
