Scripture
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

When considering how we honor God with our actions, we often think of the way we speak to others, the effort we put into helping the less fortunate, the thoughts we entertain and the feelings we hold in our hearts. But do you ever consider how your lifestyle honors God? How the things you use to nourish the body He blessed you with is a reflection of the care and effort you are putting into His perfect work?

Eating a cupcake or two is not dishonorable. God doesn’t scowl if you go a day without consuming a carrot. However, when we think of food and drink as nourishment to do the work of God’s kingdom, diets and calorie crunching don’t feel like they’re done in vain. When we choose to eat healthier, move more and show gratitude for the things before us, God’s work is glorified.

So, the next time you sit down to a heap of broccoli for dinner instead of extra-gooey mac and cheese with bacon and lots of breadcrumbs, choose to be grateful that those greens will energize and equip you to carry God’s word through the world.
