Scripture
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 (NIV)

Do you feel shrouded in darkness? Overtaken by stress and worry? The world can be a dark place. Our lives can feel overrun by the bad things, void of the warmth we so desperately need. The darkness feels suffocating. It stomps out God’s light, cuts off communication and steals away all comfort from our Heavenly Father.

But in the book of John, we’re assured that God, the light of this world, will always outshine the darkness. Death, disease and heartbreak cannot cover up His goodness, steal away our joy or keep us from our Creator. So what can you do the next time darkness becomes too much?

Pray. Open up a line straight to the Big Man himself. Pray for the strength to stop focusing on the things you wish to control—the actions of others, the direction of the world—and instead refocus your eyes on God, the light of this world.

The brightest light, unable to be stomped out or hidden away, is shining just for you. Bask in its glow, sister!
