Scripture
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)

Are you obedient? If you’re a parent, perhaps it’s a question that leads you to think about your children. The ones you constantly remind to do what you say and do it immediately. Not when they have a point to pause their video game or during the next commercial break on television. You want their attention and obedience right now—this very second. There’s a task to be completed and the time is now. It’s frustrating when you give instructions that are met with an attitude of passivity.

How does God feel when we ignore His call to be obedient? Does that show God respect as our Heavenly Father? The same we demand of our children towards us?

Our actions, words and thoughts should work together to lead us toward the same point. The place where we submit to God by allowing our obedience to speak for itself. It’s not meant to be the other way around. God doesn’t bend to our wills. Remember, when we pray, the words we recite are “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In other words, it’s not all about us. It’s all about Him.
