These few words from the Lord’s Prayer may sound simple, but they carry the weight of trust, dependence and surrender.
“Give us today our daily bread.” Not tomorrow’s answers. Not next week’s clarity. Just today’s portion.
If we’re honest, that kind of dependence can feel uncomfortable. We like plans. We like knowing what’s next. But Jesus invites us into a different rhythm—one where we look to God daily, trusting that He’ll meet our needs one day at a time.
Maybe you’re stretched thin right now—trying to balance your job, your family, your relationships and your health. Maybe you’re quietly worrying about finances, facing uncertainty about your future or just trying to get through the day without falling apart.
God sees all of it. And He promises to provide—not always in advance, not always how we expect—but always enough.
Your “daily bread” might look like patience for a difficult child, strength to get through a hard conversation, energy to face another doctor’s appointment or courage to step into something new. It’s whatever God knows you need most right now.
So instead of striving to hold everything together, ask: Lord, what do I need today? And trust Him to provide it.
His mercies are new each morning. His provision is personal. And His presence is always enough.
