Mind, body and spirit—it’s the overarching motto of Inspiring Women, but it's also a powerful formula for sleeping well and starting off your day on the right foot. Let’s unpack how this simple mantra can help you kick-start and wind down your days with positivity and intention.

Waking Up

1

Prompt For the Day (Mind)

Even before getting out of bed, you can prime your mind for the day ahead by reflecting on a goal, purpose or intention that you wish to work toward. You may want to keep a journal by your bedside so that you can read your mantra or intention as soon as you wake up.

2

Stretch and Breathe (Body)

As you get out of bed, take a moment to notice the breath going in and out of your lungs. Stand up and feel the vertebrae of your spine resting on top of each other. Feel your feet grounded against the floor, supporting the rest of your body. Notice any aches or discomforts without passing judgment or complaint.

3

Gratitude/Prayer (Spirit)

Consider working some thanks for the blessings you’ve received into your morning dialogue with the Lord. Think about all the great friends you have, the family that supports you or recent events that have gone your way. This will help you go about your day with more awareness of the positive and less fixation on the negative.

Winding down

1

Reflect on the Day (Mind)

Think back on the intentions you set in the morning. Did everything go as you’d hoped? If not, what can you do better tomorrow to accomplish your goals? Critique yourself with warmth and forgiveness, then let it go.

2

Be Still (Body)

Even if you’re still feeling antsy from the day, force yourself to sit or lie down with stillness. Shake off your jitters, let that itch pass without fidgeting and focus on your breath. Turn the smartphone on silent or leave it in another room so your brain can enjoy some peace and tranquility.

3

Gratitude/Prayer (Spirit)

Try to pin down the best parts of your day and thank God for providing them. Thank Him for keeping you and your loved ones safe, along with any personal prayer requests that came up during the day. Drifting off into sleep with an attitude of gratitude is a great habit for your mental health!

Rhythm plays an important role in our lives. Starting your day off right and ending it right brings a peaceful rhythm that is easy to jive with.
