Do you ever feel like something is stealing the happiness right out of your life? Like no matter how hard you try, bliss is elusive? One minute, life is grand—your skinny jeans fit, someone in front of you at the coffee shop paid for your latte or your granddaughter landed a spot on her school’s soccer team. That’s enough to keep one on cloud nine. But sometimes it just isn’t. Why is that?
The Bible teaches us where to find happiness. Putting God center stage in your life leads to happiness. It’s not easy to live a selfless life. When opportunity presents, worry, criticism, selfishness and even envy can worm their way in to steal our joy. Those emotions want your full attention and all the energy you can send their way. After all, we’re human. We won’t always recognize that happiness may exist right in those things that are right in front of us.
Looking to God for happiness, rather than inward or to others, can be tough. Each and every day, make God your top priority—the center of your activities and the foundation of your life. It takes focus and practice. But when you do, the rewards and the happiness you’ll find in God will be truly great.
