Scripture
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

A lot of us are worriers, aren’t we?

We’re scared to hear the test results.
We don’t know how we’ll afford our son’s class field trip.
We just want someone to tell us what the future holds!

Here’s the beauty of one of God’s greatest promises: He is for us, so no one can be against us. Not five o’clock traffic, not the coworker that has it out for you and definitely not the worries about tomorrow.

Before God breathed life into the planets and stars, before you grew in your mother’s womb, He knew it would take His very best to save us from worry. The scriptures tell us that God was prepared to pay the highest ransom so we would no longer wring our hands or let fear overwhelm us. That plan was always Jesus—always. In God’s eyes, we are more valuable than gold or silver. Our eternity was secured when His son stepped in and took on our blemishes, pain and suffering. We were worth the ransom.

Christ is the advocate who comes to our aid when the whispers of fear and dread run through our minds. He defended us until His death so that we could quiet the treadmill of thoughts in our minds with simply one word: Jesus. When all feels lost, we can rely on His strength in our weakest moments because then who can be against us if God is for us?
