Scripture
“LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.” Psalm 84:12 (NIV)

Trust isn’t a natural response for everyone.

Some have been deeply wounded by family, coworkers and even their church. Wounds can put up a barrier that hinders us from building and maintaining relationships. Yet there is someone we can count on to never break our hearts or walk away when we need them the most.

God will never break His word to you. He keeps His promises for the long haul. Our exclusive faithfulness to Him allows loving dependence. Be assured that He stands ready to hold your hand and walk beside you in good times and in moments of sorrow.

Overcoming trust issues isn’t easy. At the core of distrust is grief for the loss and pain. Then fear creeps in, telling us to be leery and padlock our hearts. This prevents us from moving forward and experiencing comfort in Christ. Sadly, bad things happen to good people, and that can leave us to wonder where God is in those moments. Yet where would we be without Him in those moments?

Here’s the cool part: God knows what you need when you cannot see a way forward. Those secrets you share with Him? You don’t have to ask Him to promise to keep them quiet. He won’t abandon you for the cool kid’s group. His love never fails, and neither will He.
