Scripture
3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)

We are bombarded by images of how we should look.

You can’t flip through social media or check out at the grocery store without wondering if you need new eye cream, should cover your grays or should wear the latest and greatest because you don’t want to be singled out by the fashion police.

Friend, letting what the world finds beautiful define you is self-destructive. That’s why Peter encourages us not to look to the pages of fashion magazines for our self-worth. Instead, embrace the light inside of you as a daughter of the King. Whether your Godly glow takes the form of a gentle, serving spirit or you’re a hearty hugger when someone needs it most, women of faith have a radiance like no other. Our Godly character should make its mark in the world: a priceless self-portrait.

One more thing: please, buy the jean jacket you love. Wear red lipstick if it makes you feel fabulous. Yet, do not forget to also adorn yourself in God’s grace and mercy. That’s true beauty which always looks good on you, girl!
