Scripture
30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. 31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30-31 (NIV)

This exchange in Acts is a powerful reminder of the importance of seeking understanding in our faith journey and the value of guidance along the way. The eunuch’s honesty in admitting his need for help to understand the Scriptures is a humble acknowledgment that sometimes, we all need a guiding hand.

In our pursuit of spiritual growth and understanding, let’s embrace the wisdom that comes from asking questions and seeking guidance. Whether it’s through engaging with a faith community, participating in a Bible study or seeking insight from more knowledgeable friends in faith, there’s excellent value in admitting that we don’t have all the answers and being open to learning from others.

This passage also invites us to consider the role we can play in guiding others. Just as Philip helped the eunuch understand the Scriptures, we, too, have opportunities to share our understanding and insights with those seeking. It’s a call to be both humble learners and compassionate teachers in our faith journey.

We pray this passage inspires you to actively seek deeper understanding and to joyfully embrace opportunities to guide and be guided on this spiritual journey.
