Oh, that Proverbs 31 woman. That girl has it going on 24/7. She’s all that and a bag of chips. Actually, she probably made the bag and the chips and still had 23 hours left in the day to work with. How does she do it all?
Or does she?
If we focus on her perfection—that she sews all the things, never burns dinner and has a coupon for everything she buys—then we’re missing the bigger picture. It’s really about management style. Making the best with the time and gifts we’re given by being good stewards. Having a healthy understanding of why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It should all translate into making wise choices about how we spend our time each day.
We can be present in our own lives and put away the cell phone. Rather than spend hours binge watching the latest drama, maybe we cut that time in half and add in baking brownies and playing board games with our kids. Rather than spend money on another black sweater, consider contributing to the overseas mission your church is supporting.
Don’t be hard on yourself. We can live the most productive life possible and still burn dinner while yelling at our kids to pick up their socks. Bad days do not have to define us or our relationship with God.
Perfection is never attainable. Loving what you’ve been entrusted with to the best of your ability? Totally doable.
