Scripture
“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8 (NIV)

Dry and cracked. Fragile and falling apart. What was once beautiful feels unwanted and unloved. But in the hands of the potter, His unfinished work is treasured and beloved. He knows what it can be, and He is watching over it and mending it to His purpose.

You are a masterpiece of the Most High. A wonder to our Wonderful Father. He has taken clay and made you the work of His hand, putting every piece together until you’re perfect.

Imagine spending that much time on a beloved piece of art that turns back to you and says, Why do I look like this? Can’t you see this other piece is more beautiful than me? It would be heartbreaking. To love something so tenderly for it to only criticize your hard work.

When we show love for the creations we are, we’re showing love to our Father. We’re showing gratitude to our Creator for the masterpiece He has made us to be.

Harsh thoughts will still cross your mind from time to time. You’ll have a bad hair day. You’ll feel jealous of your friends. But don’t let these thoughts pass your lips. Greet them instead with reminders of how beloved you are in the eyes of Christ.
