Scripture
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8 (NIV)

This verse in Genesis takes place right after the fall. Adam and Eve had sinned, disregarded God’s word and rebelled against His command to eat from any tree but one. We can see that shame and guilt were immediate because they sought to run from God rather than speak honestly with Him. They went from a communal, loving relationship with the Lord to one where they felt unworthy to be in His presence.

They had sinned. They were afraid. They couldn’t face God. They knew what they did was wrong.

Sound familiar?

We do not have to fear God, friend. Our sin does not have to be the end of our faith story. The original sin in the garden set Jesus’s mission into action. His sacrifice means we can reunite with God in our darkest and worst moments through His Son. He paid the price so we would not need to hide in fear.

You are not condemned. You can come back and turn away from what’s keeping you separated from your Heavenly Father.
