Ruth went from poverty and famine to blessing and harvest. But how? She was willing to follow the path God set before her.
After Ruth’s husband passed away, she couldn’t support herself. When the opportunity arose to follow her mother-in-law, Naomi, to a foreign land, she took it, promising to serve Naomi’s God, live in her land and embrace her people. Once they arrived, Ruth took to working in the harvest fields as a means to survive. While it was unrelenting work, it was also transformational.
Ruth became known for her kindness and conviction. She wasn’t just a field hand to those she worked with. In fact, one man, Boaz, came to love Ruth. They married and had children, making Ruth part of the lineage of Christ.
When we open ourselves up to the path God has blazed before us, even the most crushing heartbreaks can lead to a bountiful harvest of blessings.
