David. He was a man after God’s own heart who was definitely far from perfect. After all, who is?
David’s life emulated what we should all strive for: being focused and centered on God. David met with God in prayer. He loved God more than conquering his enemies. More than being crowned king. More than any earthly treasure imaginable. God was his number-one priority.
From a boy facing down a giant to a king ruling over populous lands, David had a lot going on throughout his lifetime. He faced difficulties. He made some bad choices. Yet we see that no matter the trial, no matter the situation, David yearned to be with God.
We all have shortcomings. Sin and stumbling blocks can separate us from our Heavenly Father. We can feel unworthy to dwell in God’s presence. But there is forgiveness and redemption when we return our focus to God and turn away from what hinders us. The beauty of God is all around us. Take it in as you bask in God’s love.
