Scripture
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 (NIV)

Fellowship comes in all shapes and sizes. Whether we find it visiting with our elderly neighbor, chatting with the driver on our bus route or worshipping with other believers on Sunday morning, it is important to surround ourselves with people who embody God’s love. Though we may not be related to these friends by blood, we are all children of God––brothers and sisters––and share our commitment to preserve and proclaim God’s kingdom by forging relationships with one another.

Today, take a moment to reflect on the importance of your relationships. What can you do to celebrate and encourage those in your life today? All it takes is a small act of kindness to show these friends how much they truly mean to you, like anonymously leaving flowers on your BFF’s doorstep or sending a text to that special someone who’s crossed your mind this week. Something that seems so insignificant to us can make a big difference in someone else’s day.

When you talk with God, remember to pray for peace, joy and good health for those you care about. Interceding for others is a selfless way to show our gratitude for Jesus’s love for us. He laid down His life so we could fellowship with other believers, and also instructed us to reach out to those who so desperately need to know there is a God who saves.
