Scripture
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (17) so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

Cute, right? This tool is a fun way to introduce why reading scripture is important. Yet the Bible’s contents are so much more than just basic instructions.

For those new to faith, and even those who have followed Jesus for a long time, the Bible is filled with examples on how to walk in faith and avoid pitfalls. From creation to eyewitness accounts, there is no lack of material to increase your knowledge about God and seek His counsel.

Although we have much to learn from the history of Old Testament text, it is under the new covenant—the New Testament—where we find Jesus teaching in parables and sermons about expectations, love, forgiveness, acceptance and so much more. Letters written by apostles to their churches provide a base for instruction and touchpoints of our faith.

Reading the Bible is something we should incorporate in our day-to-day life. It’s not something we do out of fear, cramming it in before we check out. The Good News is anything but basic. It’s a living, breathing guide that gets us through our days here on earth.
