Scripture
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

No matter who you are or where you’ve been, there’s one thread woven into the fabric of our faith journeys: God’s amazing grace.

From Noah and his family escaping the floods to the condemned man hanging on the cross next to Jesus who was promised paradise, the grace of our Heavenly Father is as present now as it was then.

There aren’t enough mission trips you can donate supplies to. It doesn’t matter how many parking spaces you pay to have paved in the church lot. You can serve the needy until your time on earth is over. All of these things are empty works if you are not saved by faith.

Faith without works isn’t something God smiles on either. So where does your heart lie? Are you proving your self-worth and worthiness to others or serving the One who offers His great grace? God sees our motivations and does not turn a blind eye when we brag nor when we approach works with humility.

When we fully understand grace is for everyone, the playing field is even. Admission into Heaven isn’t for sale. We could never cover the cost paid for by God’s one and only Son. His great grace is there for the taking for anyone at any time at any place in life. Take hold of God’s saving grace.
