We’ll cover a new chapter every week, so read along!
You know those moments when life just doesn’t make sense? When you’re doing everything right—showing up, trying your best, keeping the faith—and still, everything feels like it’s falling apart? Job gets it. In Chapter 10, he straight-up asks God, “Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?”
Oof. That’s raw. Job is basically saying, “God, You made me, so why are You letting me go through this?” Sound familiar? Maybe you’ve prayed something similar when losing a loved one, losing a job or just one of those really tough seasons that makes you wonder if God’s even paying attention.
We know you’ve been there, because we have too—praying for something so hard, doing everything right, and still, nothing seems to happen. You’ve got the qualifications for that job you interviewed for. You told that special person how much you loved them, and yet—doors just seem to keep closing. They “decided to move on with other candidates” for that job. The person you thought was your soulmate “isn’t ready for that kind of commitment.” And you find yourself sitting in your car, completely drained, asking God, What are You doing? Did You bring me this far just to let me fail?
But here’s the thing—that moment of frustration doesn’t have to push you away from God. It can actually pull you closer. When you keep bringing your questions to Him, when you keep showing up even when you don’t understand, something shifts. And in time, the right door will open—at just the right moment. And when it does, you’ll look back and realize that the waiting wasn’t wasted. It was shaping you in ways you couldn’t see at the time.
That’s what Job shows us. He didn’t shut down or walk away—he engaged with God, even in his pain. His questions weren’t a lack of faith; they were part of his faith. And that’s a reminder for you, too. You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to pretend everything’s okay when it’s not. God can handle your frustration, your doubts and your hardest questions.
So today, give yourself the grace to ask. Bring your confusion, your worries and your whys to God. He’s not put off by your questions—He welcomes them. And in the middle of it all, He’s still with you, even when you don’t have everything figured out yet.
