Perseverance Through Pain

Scripture
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)

Pain is only temporary. Whether it’s physical, mental or emotional, the afflictions we face today will not last forever. God has shaped us to persevere through our pain and see light in even the darkest circumstances.

Rather than focus on the difficult path you see in front of you, turn your attention towards what ultimately lies ahead: eternal glory in the kingdom of Heaven. Each day we embody God’s grace, we bring our souls closer to Him. Difficult times make us stronger and wiser so we can best serve the mission He has laid out for us.

When walking through adversity, remember God is always with you. Pray to Him, and He will listen. Rather than asking Him why you are suffering, ask what you will learn from the journey you’re on. Reframing pain as a learning experience can provide perspective and fuel perseverance.
